Understanding Decision Intelligence
Starting from the decision rather than the data changes which analytics get built — and which get used.

Decision intelligence is an approach that puts the decision, rather than the dataset, at the center of analytical work.
From outputs to outcomes
Traditional analytics often ends at an output — a report, a model, a dashboard. Decision intelligence asks a further question: what decision does this inform, and did it change?
The components
- A clear statement of the decision and its owner.
- The options available and the constraints on them.
- The information that would change the choice.
- A way to record decisions and evaluate them later.
Why it matters
This framing prevents a common failure: technically strong analytics that never influence action. It also makes the value of analytics easier to explain.
